Pros

Flushed with money from SoftBank

Cons

Terrible infighting at senior executive level. Senior management does not plan, hires without cause and then changes mandates and groups at the drop of a hat. Employees are treated poorly, even bullied

We’re sorry this was your experience. It’s especially concerning to hear that people may have been treated poorly – that’s not the culture we expect at Arm. Collaboration and respect are core to how we work, and any form of bullying goes against everything we stand for. If you’re willing to share more, please contact glassdoor@arm.com so we can follow up appropriately. We’re glad you found value in your time with the CT and CE groups – both teams are doing critical work and pushing boundaries in key areas of our roadmap.

Pros

Growing company Nice office Flexible working Interesting work usually and opportunities if you make them Smart people

Cons

Pay outside of engineering is lack luster. Shares can make up for it. You are a second class citizen outside of the core business. Development opportunities for senior individuals with tenure are limited. This is because, and I quote, ' optics are bad' for those who have had past investment. There are two reasons for this in my experience. Others may have other experiences. 1) tenure and training already recieved. In otherwords if you have been with the company a while, continous improvement is not considered for you. 2) If you dont fit the DEI profile don't bother. In other words, if you are white male the optics of investment in you could be considered negative. Despite being told 'Be your brilliant self' as a core value, the reality of execution is much different, and varies between group.

Thank you for such a thoughtful and candid review. It’s clear you’ve contributed a great deal over the years, and we truly value the perspective of someone with such long-standing experience at Arm. We’re glad to hear you continue to find the work interesting and the flexibility supportive. At the same time, we take seriously the concerns you’ve raised around progression and development – especially for those in non-engineering roles or with longer tenure. Everyone at Arm should have the opportunity to keep growing, and we’re actively working to ensure our approach to development and inclusion is consistent, fair, and based on individual potential, not perception.

Pros

Transferring DevOps Engineers into IT makes sense operationally as it should reduce friction, especially if it leads to IT embracing greater automation and moving away from manual ServiceNow heavy processes.

Cons

Impact to reward for DevOps Engineers moved into IT is demotivating and is contrary to the messaging that IT need to level up their capabilities to the capabilities that the DevOps Engineers bring.

Thank you for sharing such a constructive and thoughtful review. We appreciate the important work DevOps Engineers do in enabling our engineering workflows, and we recognise the value of the skills and systems you bring to the table. We understand that structural changes can have unintended impacts on motivation, particularly when role identity and recognition feel misaligned. Your feedback about how reward is perceived following the move to IT is noted, and we encourage you to continue raising this through the appropriate internal channels so we can ensure alignment between responsibilities, impact, and recognition.
