A once great company

Pros

People on a general basis within the business, culture was great in the past, some great technology work and some great thinking on progressive culture

Cons

Old boys network, restructures are same people at senior level in different boxes, if you raise your hand about an issue you can guarantee you’ll be leaving very soon after, lacks innovation and creativity, focus on status and self at senior level and not creating great teams. Needs to be braver and get rid of those people making bad decisions. Sadly a once great company is going downhill very quickly.

Pros

The working atmosphere was always goods working at ARM.

Cons

My managers didn't know how to manage They do not compensate employees who have devoted years to them, as well as they do new hires. With all the changes as of late, it's not the same great company it once was to work for.

Pros

The IT department is ambitiously and aggressively trying (emphasise trying) to drag itself from the 90’s into the bleeding edge of technology- so you’ll always be challenged with something interesting that’ll help you grow professionally.

Cons

I’ve never seen an IT department with such an ingrained and unflinching culture of bullying. There’s one simple reason for this, and it’s resource hoarding. If you’ve ever seen a pack of stray dogs fighting over the the single bone that’s been thrown to them you’ll know what I’ve seen at ARM. The churn of employees and contractors within the IT department is astounding, with the fastest way out the door is to escalate a bullying complaint to a director within IT or one of the HR business partners. Every single person I’ve seen make a bullying complaint was removed from the company within weeks if not days.

Thanks for leaving us a review. Your feedback is valuable, even if it’s not easy to read. Our ability to learn and quickly take action from our experiences will drive us to be more successful in the long-term so we do appreciate your feedback. First of all, I’m very sorry, surprised and disappointed to hear about how the experience felt for you. Bullying is never acceptable and is not compatible with our Core Beliefs around “We, not I”. Please write to me with any further details you have and I will look into this personally, to ensure that nobody in my team is experiencing or perpetrating this type of behaviour. As you say, this is a hugely exciting time for Arm and for our IT organisation, where we are undertaking a demanding programme of work to update our infrastructure and services so that they can cope with the demands of a larger, ambitious workforce in pursuit of 1 trillion connected devices. There are lots of opportunities and challenges here, at both an individual and collective level. One of these is resources: we’ve introduced some new processes to improve how we allocate resources to our priorities, so that we’re having the greatest impact according to our goals. As a result we’re hiring a significant number of permanent staff, who we are committed to developing for the long-term. Turnover of our permanent staff in IT is less than 5%. Thank you again for raising these important issues, [Andy Smith, CIO, Arm]
