Customer Adviser
Pros
Before they decided an American CEO knew the Uk market better than an English native, it was a good place to work. Team spirit was good, customer experience, which was measured by repeat customers, was proven and deserved. Training was excellent, which was beneficial to both customer and employee. Perks were good, if a little out of date and stingy (10% discount). Good new procedures in place to promote productivity.
Cons
Making people stand up all day is counter-productive..it leads to grumpy staff, due to back pain. Days off work, due to back pain, and feeling generally unwell due to standing all day. Out of date, cheap stock of headsets, could lead to tumors, or at the very least, severe headaches. Unrealistic targets making staff ill with worry (management level, mostly). Despite being so much more than till monkeys that scan products all day, staff at Argos, can literally work the system to within an inch of where the desired product is, in actual time. Customer service like that deserves a better rate of pay. So many staff have been lost, good staff, because the pay doesn't reflect the job.
