Pros

Good healthcare benefits, majority of work is remote

Cons

At EHS IT , IDP, consulting arm of Arcadis, you either bill ft hours or be kicked out. While you are working on projects full time , you must line up future billable work. You have to constantly upsell yourself to senior management to get future work . It is like working for yourself , constantly worrying to get future work , but on salary. It is exhausting. No one cares about providing tools to do work efficiently. Arcadis IDP uses Excel and free open source programming tools , that you have to learn on your own, to get your work done. Investment in work software tools for consultants is non existent. Arcadis hires a lot of foreign H1Bs, that are pressured to work long hours to keep their jobs and visa status . They are also paid a fraction of US IT pros . Good luck asking for a raise when half of your tech workforce wiling to work for less. Company heavily emphasized the teamwork. Please be aware . They laid off half of their consultant workforce during pandemic. No mercy, to protect the balance sheet.

Strong Staff, Horrible Management

Pros

Can learn a lot, by doing other people's job.

Cons

Top level management has no idea what is going on with their staff, nor do they care. Most are out to better their career and their pocket, not to build a strong team. Only hire friends/previous co-workers. Support functions like HR, Marketing, and Communication do nothing, other groups have to cover for them.

Pros

I have seen ARCADIS weather some storms in down-turned markets with creative thinking and good strategy in the past. Many employees have been very loyal and put their heart and soul into making the company great. We have good benefits and salary is equivalent to peer companies.

Cons

Profit margins have been flat, but still showing a profit and yet senior leads and technical experts have been laid off during several culls this year. A new re-organization last week resulted in another round of layoffs without any consideration of how clients would be affected. Many of the leads that were laid off have strong client relationships that will dissolve without them. Difficult to remain positive and employee retention will be a serious challenge. The new management says 'people' are the most important but actions speak otherwise. It's about the bottom line. Be very scared if you are not entry level and behind on any financial goals.
