Pros

The company has a good roster of clients they've worked with in the past.

Cons

This company is trying its best to stay afloat by acquiring other firms - this means that you are a number and not a valued employee. The people in this company are leaving left and right. No work/life balance, low salaries, no work bonuses or raises, management is a joke, and the wins are minimal - so say goodbye to job security. The clients are looking for new, fresh firms to work with besides Arcadis. The Environmental and PMCM teams are really struggling.

Pros

A lot of different projects, opportunity to make your mark and freedom to try things out and have early responsibility and autonomy. Good place to start a career for sure.

Cons

A stranglehold, closed shop and old boys club feel about the Partnership structure, perceived as the illuminati! Poor people practices, bens, training, engagement and HR support compared to other businesses. Not a progressive employer. No heart or soul to the company unfortunately.

Pros

Benefits are competitive; salaries are average; and focus on business results teaches engineers to pay attention to the financial side of their profession.

Cons

Focus on profit is out of balance with other important aspects of business, like serving clients or taking care of employees. The constant need to achieve "share holder value" is out of sync with a thinly traded stock that is backed up by a foundation that "evens out" potential volatile trading. Continual lay-offs and rehiring of lower-level staff (read: cheaper) is an inefficient way (not to mention demoralizing to staff) to achieve growth in financial metrics, quarter over quarter. Billable goals for technical staff are unrealistic, training and business development are largely "on your own time" activities, and professional organization participation is discouraged. Many employees are burned out due to acquisitions, subsequent downsizings, and lack of job security -- they simply go through the motions to collect a paycheck . . .
