Pros

The name of the company was good enough to to get me a better job! Was very happy to part ways with this company .

Cons

I was at this company for 3 years and I would like to be the first to tell you, they are all about donations and not taking no for a answer . You will be calling donor on a Sunday morning ,Christmas Eve, Easter and other days they feel is expectable. You have to learn to rebuttal and and come up with special way to trick the donor into donating a free pint of blood. If the donor is sick or cancel the appointment it makes your show rate go down and hurts your numbers . This job is very stressful for $10. The system make a lot of mistakes in calling the same donors that have already donated. The call system needs to be updated .The donor also make this job especially hard. Management wants you chain to a desk so they will bonus off the teams hard work. You won't feel appreciated by this company at all . They also coach you on your calls that are being recorded and make sure that you use every opportunity to get a blood donation . If your new they train you for a week then they throw you onto the call center floor. There is no consistency with this company . There is so much more I could say negatively about American Red Cross but I will leave it for other to experience and and write about . Good Luck!

Pros

Get to work with different people outside an office setting daily. Flexible schedule as long as you get your work done.

Cons

National is making all decisions now and local offices have no more say so. People in DC have unrealistic ideas of what the job entails. Trying to do more with less with no regard to employees well being. Employees are no longer respected.... they are a number and can be replaced easily in managements mind.

Pros

got to meet different people, opportunity to grow in field, raise every 6 months, decent pay, mileage reimbursment, experience, good title on resume.

Cons

poor management that fraternizes and sleeps with some of the employees, very unproffessional workers who are loud and irrate. No flexibility with hours, the schedule leaves no room for a life outside of work. If you show up late or dont come in you get whats called an "occurence" and after a certain amount of these they fire you. They fire anyone they dont like and pretty much hire anyone. Your supposed to have a specific area to work in that is close to where you live but you will barely be in that area. Instead they will put you somewhere 3 hours out of where you live and expect you to be there on time at like 5 am. They say they reimburse your travel pay and parking costs but that takes months to get back and constant arguing with them to get it and by that time you dont even care anymore. This place is pretty much full of young "ghetto' immature people. Its like a big highschool, there are fights and gossip and if your desperate for a job than maybe take it but im said to say i wasted two years of my life here smh
