Pros

Worked with very experienced professionals. Great benefits. The entire leadership team has put lots of investment in modernizing the entire brand and workplace.

Cons

You can always experience long hours during a disaster, but this is nothing new. Also, as a nonprofit, you know it's going to be difficult to offer competitive salaries.

Pros

Generally people are very kind here. The training was also amazing since our trainer was hilarious and I felt very happy to be a part of the American Red Cross. The job also pays a decent wage.

Cons

However, I personally feel awful about the job we do. Sure, we do help save lives by bringing blood donations in by WILLING donors. But the people who want to be off the call-list or have a significant chance of not being able to donate blood in the future should be taken off. Plain and simple. We get paid to bother people. Basically. Management pressures us to not take people off the call-list because the list is our "job-security." That's pretty messed up if you ask me. It's almost as if donors become property of the Red Cross and only in extreme circumstances can they be taken off. Also, I'm not sure if it's true or not, but we were told early on that if someone is taken off the list, they can never donate with the Red Cross again. What?!
