Pros

I learned so much about disaster working at ARC. It is a great place to get your feet wet in the disaster space.

Cons

Long hours, lots of role responsibility, metrics to death.

Pros

The Red Cross is a great organization for feeling good about the work you do, lots of feel good moments all around. They are also great at giving employees opportunities for growth, giving early career folks promotion opportunities and letting employees gain insight into other teams.

Cons

The work has a high burnout rate. Especially during disaster season, the hours can be very long and there is heave guilt tripping about trying to take time off or lowering the intensity. The organization also tries to "innovate" far too often which can feel like whiplash when a project you've worked hard on is suddenly dropped a year later for something new and shiny.
