Pros

The company makes a ton of money so it can afford to pay its employees much more than what I feel is normal for the same jobs. You can feel secure because they don't need to lay people off. Healthcare is a recession proof industry. There is a lot of room for career growth depending on your skills and what you want to grow into.

Cons

I have not had any negative experiences in my 3 years.

Pros

Safety is truly #1. Big focus on people; respect for the individual. You won't get through one day without reference to "our culture" several times. Lots of exciting transformation going on right now. Very exciting place to work. Lots of career opportunities. This company believes in long-term succession planning and training.

Cons

Long work hours, competitive industry with slim profit margins means lean operating budget.

Worst career mistake of my life

Pros

For the Ames, Iowa plant, the pay is among the highest for the local manufacturing plants. The 401 (k) match isn't half bad.

Cons

If you're ready to feel like a tool, ready to be used until you're broken and then thrown away, then this is the place for you! If you are going on the floor, you are a number and will be replaced when you start squeaking too much. The management is incompetent, egotistical and arrogant. All I really need to say is when one of the core values is "Low cost", you know you just signed up to work for the Walmart of the PET packaging world - and they treat you as such. This is the only employer I've worked for where people not only expected workplace violence to happen (someday), they actually prepared for it because they knew it was coming. You can only push people so far. I lost nearly a half a decade of my career to these monsters (because I believed the line about how "There is nobody out there that pays as well" and "If you leave, you'll be living under a bridge". I left, and it was one of the best days of my life! Absolutely a horrible experience.
