Pros

PTO and friendly coworkers. If you are lucky enough to get a good manager, they are of great help.

Cons

Work load is excessive. Frequent changes to policies with very poor implementation. Life and work balance is nearly impossible. You must work more than scheduled time to stay afloat. Would not recommend.

Pros

You get plenty of time (They don’t allow you to use) Insurance is BCBS of IL (Highly Expensive)

Cons

Let me first start by saying this place is absolutely awful. For the position I was offered I was being paid $15.25 an hour. I am still currently employed with Allstate for 6.5 years. I do the exact same STRESSFUL position and have gotten only a TOTAL of 1.86 for the entire time. We have went YEARS with out getting raises. This is the norm for Allstate. They bring you in making decent money for Roanoke but, you don’t get raises no one in the company get raises unless you’re in management. Speaking of management if you’re not 1. Attractive 2. A golden child and 3. A pure suck up. You have no chance at growth with this company. I’ve watched many people come in happy to work here start their (awfu) training to just be fired if they don’t like your personality. I would suggest if you have any other job offers even if it’s Big Lots go with them at least you’ll have job security! The lay offs are awful here. I’ve been personally laid off 3 times. If you want to fear for your job everyday, go home with the worse attitude, hate coming into work terrible hours this is the position for you!!!!! The management and coworkers here are so negative. You ever wonder why they don’t walk you around after an interview or why they keep you in the lobby during your interview? They don’t want you to feel, see and HEAR how negative this place is. This is a dog eat dog world here. I’ve learnt that I thought I had friends here but, they just want to get to know you to use your weaknesses against you. If you’re not hitting your (impossible call time goals) towards the end of training, you’ll get walked out the door. I feel awful for the new people they bring in. Just know a group of 20 will come in and most of the time not 1 will make it longer than 3 months. The old times don’t like seeing new blood come in the door (as they are worried for their own jobs) so they make the new people worry and tell management they are no good.

Pros

Local branches with head office backing. Marketing dollars available for agents to spend. Starting "salary" is good. Product training is great.

Cons

Corporate expects you to spend money out of pocket for marketing. Your agency manager can make or break the position. LOTS OF TURNOVER. High pressure to perform. Starting Salary is advance on commission. Turn away more clients than you can insure. You do not leave training feeling prepared to do the job at all. If you do not have a large network for immediate business, reconsider this position, most of my colleagues have worked in car sales, real estate or have deep connections within the community, building a COI network takes time, but management expects immediate results.
