Pros

Quite a few talented and passionate people.

Cons

- non competitive pay - most talented people don't stay - No matter how well you perform it is very hard to move to new positions in the company. -Internal job performance is actually not even used to evaluate internal candidates, to create a fair and equal playing field for internal and external candidates. Leaderships hides this from employees, quite unethical. They want external talent more. - CEO Tom Wilson has a history of questionable character behind closed doors - Senior officers have said they don't feel comfortable expressing their true opinions - Executives maintain in leadership positions despite a history of cursing people out - Retaliation is quite common - Non diverse leaders mostly old white men who have been in insurance for decades - Fired 10% of workforce in the middle of a global pandemic, not due to performance but due to strategy. The company made more money than ever during pandemic. - Did 3 reorgs and made people feel they had secure jobs and then laid of a masisve portion of people - Incompetent senior leadership focused solely on supporting their delusional success stories for poltical purposes - Only certain levels get bonuses - Improper governance structure which allows Tom Wilson to have too much control over the company - Promotion based on tenure not merit - Horrible culture for innovation

Pros

Very easy going culture that is very flexible as long as your work is getting done and high quality. Tons of high quality peers and leaders to collaborate and work with. Allstate wants to be a leader in important areas such as diversity and inclusiveness. Allstate is okay with hybrid and remote roles.

Cons

Even when identified as top talent Allstate will not reward with fair market pay. As with many large legacy companies data quality, data engineering, and data governance for analytics is a mess. Leadership only focuses on the exciting potential data science applications and does not realize how poorly data and datasets are managed. Many projects are continuously delayed or eventually fail in production due to lack of commitment to proper data management resources. Decision science organization just wants to build a model, get credit, and then throw it over the wall for business areas to figure out how to maintain and automate. There is no accountability for the projects to still be adding value even a couple months after project completion.

Pros

They have great outings racetrack, baseball games all on company time and paid by company.

Cons

Senior management has no clue on what they are doing. Decisions are made by goals and not data . I witnessed first hand pushing out those that raised concerns . There is a shut up and do your work or bad things will happen.
