Some great times, some horrible times

Pros

Some of the people there are the some of the best in the industry. Great exposure to a wide variety of engagements and technologies. If you get into the right group, practice and/or supervisors, the projects can be fantastic. Great for aspiring consultants out of school.

Cons

Some of the people here are in positions of authority are horrible to their subordinates. Why and how these people were tolerated always boggled my mind. The only jaded opinion I could ever form, was they either brought in money or they had a MD protecting them.

Pros

Thrilling high visibility projects, addressing C-level situations (management, shareholders), that "really matter". Exceptional team of experienced professionals, with mixed backgrounds and seniority, able to "change the outcome"

Cons

AlixPartners is now regarded as the key competitor able to displace the traditional model, by major strategy players (BCG; McK, actively hunting in AP teams)

Pros

Get to know and work with all sorts of management, learn from the very best that the industry has to offer. They hold constant training's for you to learn from and develop yourself and your skill set, not necessarily new hire training, but training's to broaden your consulting skill set. New CEO is great and really wants to develop the firm into one of the best firms in the world.

Cons

Management tends to be a black box, not a lot of transparency, in terms of staffing. Joined out of B School, and the learning curve is very steep and long but you are expected to be ready to go on day one. Constant anxiety and stress. Pulled into firm with no formal training and expected to perform to peak expectations. This is improving though as they have started implementing new initiatives for new hires. MDs tend to be very unforgiving, if you mess up on a project they tend to turn their backs on you and you are left struggling for staffing.
