1. Mostly legacy projects. Very very old technology stack.
2. Projects are simple kind. Very few huge complex projects where you really get to learn a lot.
3. After a time, learning stops. It becomes mundane work.
4. You need to complete 2 years in a role, to be eligible for promotion. You need to ask for promotion to get one. I did not ask. Thought my manager was responsible enough to consider my exceptional performance. But he was not. Also I had completed 2.5 yrs in that role. Not all managers are fools. But some are really really annoying. I have worked with best and worst managers here. It all depends on destiny.
4. After Blackstone has taken over, people are being laid off like anything. No job security. Always a fear of axe hanging above your head. Even workday team which is where main billing occurs is not safe. Especially if you are a lead think 100 times before joining. You will survive here if you help company generate revenue. Some people might find it really really difficult if they are from IT companies where things mostly work by delegation. Even some individual contributors are not surviving. Rule is if they can find someone who will do your work at lesser price, they will lay you off. CEO clearly says on Intranet blog that he cannot gaurantee there won't be further layoffs.
5. IT work is being removed from alight and being given to Emphasis. That is their long term goal.
In a nutshell, if you are an IT professional DO NOT join Alight if you value job security. Else its an excellent company.
