Pros
Working with a lot of young smart energetic committed collaborative fun coworkers. Starting out with 5 weeks time off. Given a lot of independence and pushed to grow quickly and be proactive problem solver.
Cons
According to coworkers there can be a lot of unexpected overtime where you get guilted into it by committed teammates; for the consulting workforce 100% travel is a distinct possibility (I've never experienced either of these personally; however I did have unexpected inconvenient travel). For consulting there is a strong "up-or-out" push to go quickly into management and sales, which can be frustrating if you want to become stronger/deeper technically before moving up, and leads to a huge frustrating lack of technically skilled team leads and technical mentoring- I very quickly became a trusted "expert" to my non-technical managers despite feeling like I'm just trying to learn new technologies myself, and have had a very difficult time getting anyone to look at my work to give feedback to help me grow. The fact that it is a huge company means you can easily get lost and feel ignored/unappreciated despite their myriad programs to try to address this- the person assigned to give me ratings/feedback has never been located in the same region as me, and has changed frequently, so I haven't been able to develop a close relationship/advocate for my career advancement. They also have a strange approach to training where they see Accenture-specific training as adequate, so they are not supportive of pursuing outside certifications or degrees.
