Pros

You'd be hard pressed to find another job where you'll meet such a multitude of people from different backgrounds, races, etc that are your age with a similar career mindset. I also can't think of a job with 5 weeks of vacation for new college grads (who ironically don't have the money to go anywhere with that kind of time).

Cons

Accenture's ability to promote completely mediocre people is truly astounding. They have these claims like "Meritocracy", "Up or Out", and "Best People". To be honest, from everything I've seen, there is a large talent gap between the pre-IPO Management and the lower level managers who will presumably take over. The longer I worked there, the more people I met that I truly respected...and then promptly watched large portions of those people leave. Being on large implementations (Accenture's bread and butter) gives you a strong feeling of being another warm body.

Pros

- People working on project teams - Degree of freedom on the project - Interaction with client executives - Generally interesting project work - Organization is flexible if I want to move positions within the firm - Accenture foundation does a lot of non-profit work, which makes the firm attractive to me - Overall, compensation and benefits are generally acceptable - Career paths are well-defined and everyone can find their niche - Generally, very respectful behaviour between co-workers - Little politics within peer group despite "up or out" principle - People are generally very responsive to requests and are happy to help and provide input Overall, Accenture is a successful company and known brand name in the consulting and tech industry.

Cons

- Large organization and all the administration that comes with that - Work/life balance heavily depends on the intensity of the project - Out-of-town travel after a couple of years can be quite a burden - Everyone believes I work in IT - Complex operating model that is hard to explain to people outside the firm, e.g. clients, business partners, friends. However, most organizational re-alignments have little impact on the type of work for the individual. I changed alignment at least 5 times in 7 years but continued with similar projects and almost the same individuals. Overall, Accenture has only a few downsides compared to other companies I experienced, in particular client companies. None of them have been viable alternatives to change jobs.

Pros

It's a great place to work with very skilled persons where you certainly will learn a lot and will make contact with several Level-C executives.

Cons

Sometimes it's very difficult to keep a good work/life balance due to heavy work demands, both from clients and management.
