I give working at Accenture a 6.0/10. I know plenty of people who were at both extremities of this scale.
Pros
Accenture as a consulting firm is involved in an unparalleled diversity of engagements. We offer a truly unbelievable spectrum of capabilities to our clients. The people for the most part are friendly, energetic, intelligent and highly capable. The company is also truly global.
Cons
Accenture is HUGE. With 180,000 people world-wide, it is very easy to get lost in the mix. I believe the pay is also below par. As someone coming in new from a University, Accenture made many decisions for myself and many people I know. Once you're branded in a particular capability / skill-set, it is hard to navigate elsewhere. It can be done but for the most part business drivers trump personal preference. The annual review process is excruciating. They try to evaluate your performance against every other employee at your career level across engagements, geographies and skill-sets. For a company that is so diverse in offering and engagements, it is really hard to come out of the process unscathed. Also, the performance appraisal process is strictly annual so this means there's no way of really fast tracking like it was once allowed to.
