Pros
The training is VERY thorough. In a new store, you are trained for weeks before the store opens, and your product knowledge is extensive. You fold, hang and refold things so often, it's kind of like basic training to weed out the weak. Customer service is highly stressed-in product knowledge, customer acknowledgment, and department presentation once the store opens. Also, Academy claims to be one of the fastest growing retailers, so they claim there is opportunity for advancement.
Cons
The store I was hired for has about 85% college kids with an adult thrown in here and there. They cater to the college crowd with scheduling and preferential treatment. You are so overworked and tired in the training process (again, only at the new stores) that you may not even WANT the job after it's done. The closing nights can get pretty late. Customer service is the top priority (and who can blame them in today's society) but if you aren't treating your employees right, they're NOT going to give great customer service.
