Good summer high school job

Pros

Good hours and competent managers. For a sports fan, this is a great place to spend your time over the summer. Learned a lot about sporting equipment through the product training guides. Enjoyed the other staff members and my managers were engaging and supportive.

Cons

Minimum wage, high employee turnover. At times asked to sell/discuss products far above my knowledge level. Sometimes very slow during the day and hard to stay engaged with nothing to do.

Alright for part-time gig but ...

Willing to work with a school schedule. As a part-time gig, this is not a bad place to work and the associate discount is definitely juicy.

Cons

Limited or rather slow progress for upward promotion if full-time. Starting pay is also a little bit on the lower end of the spectrum as far as retain chains go.
