One of the Best Places I Ever Worked
Pros
I've been employed by ASM for 5 years and have been involved in many facets of the business. My experience is this company really cares about its people. This caring extends to the work and personal environment. Here are some examples: 1)There's a robust training program with various subjects ie) Security, Ethics, Accurate Time Reporting, etc. The company wants trained & educated employees. We get training on everything; trust me. 2) The company holds monthly Brown Bag sessions to highlight the work we're doing, various topics of compliance and interest, and even just to communicate transitions of how we do business to top level changes from our parent company Accenture Federal Services;. 3) Every year they have a huge holiday party at a swanky hotel, summer company events (this year it's a DC United event at RFK), internal breakfasts, lunches, you name it. When we work on large proposals, there's daily lunches, and everyday there's fresh fruit, snacks, bagels, cream cheese, etc. 4) The Fairfax location is the bomb. The building is well maintained, the work areas are nice and the workstations are large and clean. The offices are very nice too. The best part are the views. It's like working in a fishbowl as there's wall-to-wall windows with amazing views. Downstairs there's a restaurant with a large selection of food and a salad bar. Across the street is Fair Oaks Mall and Fairfax Towne Center. We're centrally located in Fairfax County to everything. Okay, enough about some of the perks. My experience has been working with a great staff and co-workers. In general, everyone is very friendly, cooperative, and easy to work with. I find my work to be very challenging and the day goes by quickly because I have a lot to do. I also forgot to mention. There are open door policies. Ideally you should go to your first line supervisor, but the CEO has often communicated that he has an open door policy as well. There is also a flexible work policy as well. You can work at home when you're sick or if your children are sick. As in any company, an employee should not take advantage of this perk. There are telecommuting options, too, that you work out with your supervisor. Lastly, the tools we're given to do our job are great. Top of the line laptops, monitors, and many of us get work cell phones. The company routinely gives away (free stuff people) extra inventory of laptops, monitors, and office furniture. They're for our own personal use and since I've been with the company, there have been at least 4 giveaways windows. I know of no other company that does this.
Cons
Sometimes some people lean on you too much and you might find yourself doing their work. This is not a fault of the company and this can happen anywhere.
