A good place to work and grow

Pros

Fantastic growth in the past few years have opened up numerous opportunities for growth and advancement within the company. Family friendly company with flexible hours and telework options for many. Friendly and laid back environment, coworkers regularly eat out together and take part in activities outside of work. Work can be as challenging and diverse as you let it become, you won't have to worry about being pigeon holed here.

Cons

Growth has caused growing pains for the company as it copes with a large number of new employees assimilating into its culture. Communications from senior leadership and parent company AFS can come across tone deaf and impersonal. ASM's focus has been shifting away from its custom development and integration heritage.

Horrible Managers

Pros

Flexible work schedule, so as long as you work 40/wk; Opportunity to learn new things (sometimes); Snacks and Fruit

Cons

ALL OF THESE GOOD REVIEWS WERE TO HIDE ALL OF THE HORRIBLE REVIEWS FROM THE NEW NSD CONTRACT. JUST LOOK AT HOW THEY WERE ALL POSTED WITHIN A TWO WEEK TIME SPAN. Literally, our managers emailed us ASKING TO WRITE GOOD REVIEWS ON THIS SITE TO INCREASE THE RATING --so shady. No professional development (if you really want it); Instead of finding solutions for immediate problems, the goal is to find who to blame for a mistake; you're expected to put in how ever many hours needed to finish your work and still only bill 8 hours --even if you and your manager know you went over and technically need overtime; Pay is definitely NOT market.

RUN!

Pros

Not much, I will say I had great direct management. It is unfair to say that has anything to do with ASM though. The management was already in place before ASM took over.

Cons

Honestly I don't even know where to start. As an overall perspective they really make you feel like you're 100% replaceable at any time. There is no room for advancement what so ever. Nobody at ASM cares about your carrier development. I worked at the NSD for the VA. As soon as ASM took over the contract our call volume jumped up dramatically. They let go of a bunch of high quality techs because they made too much and hired a bunch of people with no experience in the IT field. It's not fair to both the VA and the new employees. The VA and our veterans deserve better than that and the new employees were never given all of the details about the job. They set all of these new employees for failure. Because of all of this it's our veterans that will suffer.
