Pros

As I said, it's good for a first-time job in the UK. the salary is decent.

Cons

- They tell you a bunch of misleading info when hiring then throw you into a company as a consultant with no induction - They are forcing you to bring more business to them if you want to have a good appraisal at the end of the year. - They have a lot of business managers that are micromanaging stuff and actually not bringing too much value to the table. - If you want to change the project strap in for some fiddling around - They are practicing favoritism. - No clear objectives and performance indicators. At the appraisals, they will tell you all kinds of stuff just to give you a minimal amount of money.

Thank you for you review. We are striving to create a collaborative and inspiring environment for all our employees. As a growing company, receiving feedback is a priority in order to ensure a long lasting development and we will continue to find ways to improve. Let’s address a couple of your specific concerns here. Having been able to almost double our size every year for the last 5 years, you may imagine that this has only been achieved by putting the interests of our clients, candidates and employees first. We have no interest in misleading them. Career development is at the core of the ALTEN model and is managed thoroughly by dedicated Career Managers ensuring the continuity of the development of each consultant. This Career Management scheme is materialized by an Integration Meeting after the start of each engineer (in which objectives are set for the year to come), and then by an individual quarterly follow-up in order to ensure both your career and your project are going in the right direction. Each year is wrapped-up by a formal Annual Appraisal during which numerous topics are tackled such Skills Development, Salary, Career Progression, Training...In preparation for this Annual Appraisal, managers collect objective fact-based feedback from numerous stakeholders (project leaders/directors, clients, account managers etc) in order to ensure the most accurate performance assessment. There is no room for favoritism. We believe that involving our employees in the company’s development brings a lot of value and can be rewarding for them, hence we offer incentives to those who are keen to explore supporting the development of our business. We do not however “force [consultants] to bring more business”. Finally, I would recommend having an open discussion with your Career Manager to address the topics that seem to be frustrating you, they are here to listen to your concerns. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review. This tells me that although we are striving to ensure we offer the best place to work to our employees, it is important to keep getting better at it.

Pros

The london office is very pleasant.

Cons

The UK side of the business is run by young inexperienced personnel and because fo this, they appear to be playing catch-up rather than anticipating the future. Staff retention is very low. They are willing to hire most young grads on a permanent contract but charge the client contractor fees (£40/ph). These grads then get moved around the country with no relocation expenses. After a maximum of 1.5 years, they realise that they can get far better elsewhere despite the "opportunities" presented by Alten. I would seriously avoid this company.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Receiving regular feedback is key for Alten to ensure a long lasting development and continue to find ways to improve. I would like to address a few of your specific points here, as some of the comments need to be clarified with accuracy. I will not particularly address the comment on the fact that the company is “run by young inexperienced personnel”, as in only 5 minutes and 2 clicks on LinkedIn, anyone can see for themselves the experience and seniority of our top management. ALTEN prides itself as being a company who provides a chance for graduates and young people to join from entry-level roles and have a fast-track career development. That being said, it would not be realistic nor sustainable to only or mostly hire young graduates, as we need to demonstrate high-level expertise to our clients. To provide a bit of facts, last year, the young graduates represented 20 to 25% of our total number of hires. We actually achieved a lot towards developing and strengthening our expertise over the last few years, having put in place a robust Technical Direction, hence being trusted to deliver large-scale work packages for some premium clients in the UK. I would also like to clarify that we do not “move people around the country”. Mobility is something we promote within Alten UK and at Group level, however we do not enforce it and have no interest in doing so. We have many customer sites within the UK with a vast amount of exciting projects. Managers will present potential project opportunities to their employees if they think they could have an interest in it and will take into consideration any concerns the engineer might have, i.e. relocating to a different part of the UK. ALTEN does provide support to any employee who chooses to relocate whether it be for a new project or for personal reasons. Thank you again for your feedback, please be sure that we are committed to continuously improving and we will take all your points on board.

Pros

I would try to think of a few, but they have left such a bad taste in my mouth that there isn't anything good about them

Cons

Wages are not competitive compared to other contract houses Never keep in contact with contract employees, at one point wasn't contacted by anyone for over a year Always come up with excuses for why they can not give out raises Always find a way to make something your fault, even when it isn't Feel taken advantaged of because I was hired right out of college and did not know what a decent wage was for the market because of lack of information on it Very greedy people Honestly work for aerotek, these people don't know what they are doing
