Low salary. Doesn’t prioritize workers needs.
Pros
They offer a flexible schedule. If you want some lab experience in the chemistry-side, go for it, but don’t stay too long.
Cons
Low pay. It increases in small increments every year. Not worth staying 10+ years. Benefits don’t seem worth it. No plans for promotion unless you stay for 10-20+, or you’re a favourite among managers. Senior supervisors snitch a lot. So, depending on where you are, they report everything to the manager. And if you do well and are fast, then one day you’re slow and there’s no “production” they complain about it. We are humans, not machines. Moreover, they don’t prioritize workers needs. It takes them months to fix issues, and prioritize something else like “beautification” of the lab. Higher-ups go around asking about safety concerns but they don’t act on it right away. They seem to ignore these type of problems.
