Pros

High safety and quality standards underpin a strong offering to a broad customer base. The company cares about its people and customers like, creating a healthy work culture. There has been strong commitment to technical innovation and people development. Personally I have been very well supported by my direct management as well as from an executive management level allowing freedom to pursue many projects, some involving considerable capital investment. This has made ALS a very engaging employer.

Cons

There is a historical precedent for being slow to adopt change and keep abreast with latest developments. While this is no where as prevalent as it once was, there are times where progress may be hindered.

We thank you for the feedback and are encouraged to hear that your co-workers at ALS help make the job fun! It is true that we work in a seasonal industry which puts pressure on our managers and employees in the busy season. We do make an effort to minimize the impact through fun activities, staff recognition, flexible scheduling and distributing overtime evenly across everyone. We are happy to hear that moving up in the company is important to you! ALS has a global network of laboratories which provides numerous opportunities for advancement, especially for those who are willing to consider relocating (staying within your on laboratory or city can limit the available options). Please speak to your HR Representative to learn about our career development resources or visit the MyCareer page on the ALSnet SharePoint site. We definitely want to support you in growing a career at ALS!

Pros

Interesting and variable work, knowledgeable and friendly workmates.

Cons

No accountability for mismanagement of work, clients and equipment. “Not my problem” work environment. One work group is put on a pedestal and praised continuously whilst the achievements of staff in other equally as hard working groups are either excluded, undervalued or ignored and this has created an us and them, non inclusive workplace culture.
