Pros

Good Benefits package (health insurance, vacation, PTO, 401k)

Cons

Everything else. They are constantly understaffed, due in part to the high employee turnover. Why the high turnover? Pay (or lack thereof) is consistently the number one complaint. ALS preaches "safety as a priority," but in practice, it's laughable. The fume hoods are either broken or under-performing, exposing employees to carcinogens, acid fumes, ammonia vapors, etc. If you complain, someone will eventually come by and show you that the ventilation is within "safe" occupational levels of exposure. Oh, good, as long as I know I'm breathing "safe" amounts of toxins, then why complain that my eyes burn, too? There were two fires within a week where I worked...ones that required responses from the Fire Dept. People in the radiochemistry department routinely breathe in "safe" levels of radioactive dust/debris. OSHA was contacted numerous times (not by me, actually) during my tenure at ALS, resulting in everything from warning letters to fines of thousands of dollars. Nothing is addressed until it becomes a crisis.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. While this is not a forum to address the safety allegations in detail, we have investigated this matter thoroughly. The records at the Fort Collins location demonstrate that chemical exposures are documented below OSHA’s Permissible Exposure Limits and that the chemical fume hoods are tested and function well above AIHA’s and NFPA’s recommended parameters. We also find no record of reported eye irritation, and interviews with existing staff did not result in reports of similar symptoms. The location performs radiation dosimetry for staff, and results are also all well within acceptable limits. We strive to provide all our employees with a safe work environment, and we would be interested to discuss your specific concerns if you’d like to contact us. If you have additional information to add please reach out to ALSUSA.HRSupport@ALSGlobal.com. We have looked into multiple concerns each time they have been brought up. We have also received about 4 different avenues of similar feedback since your departure from ALS, all pointing out the same or similar alleged issues, and pointing fingers at specific employees within the ALS lab. We have looked into the employee complaints you have mentioned, and they are unfounded.

When/If you see any positive reviews on here... Consider the fact that they are providing an incentive to their current employees for positive reviews specifically on this website. Corrupt.

Thank you for providing feedback and we regret that you feel that as a company ALS is incentivising in some way employees to provide positive feedback. Although we obviously appreciate any positive feedback given on Glassdoor ALS is not incentivising employees to do said reviews. We do have an ALS Ambassador program where we do have a competition for photos or videos as the majority of our staff do enjoy working at ALS.
