Provimi produces and purveys provisions. For those who dislike the pompous overuse of alliteration, Provimi makes animal food, primarily agricultural animal feed (mainly for swine, poultry, and cattle) in the form of premixes, concentrates, and complete feed. Its customers include livestock farmers, animal feed manufacturers, and veterinarians. The Dutch firm also makes specialty feeds (for young animals and those with special diets), as well as commercial fish. It sold its pet food business in 2011 to focus on its core animal nutrition operation. Provimi has about 70 plants in more than 25 countries and its products are available worldwide. Permira Advisers sold Provimi to agribusiness giant Cargill.
