There was rarely a time when I felt like I was actually in active conversation; they asked very generic, quite bland questions and seemed...distressed when I asked them specific questions about themselves based on thorough research I had done reading past pieces of work and even social media profiles.
Questions deal with qualifications desired and past experience with those qualifications. Ability to work independently and remotely if needed. Leadership questions usually asked as well and past examples.
In a pre-screening email, I was asked what was motivating me to find a new job.
Do you think you might get bored working on materials for very young children?
What was your favourite children's book?
What is your style of technical writing?
What styles of citation are you most familiar with?
By this stage the CMO and I knew each other fairly well and I trusted and respected him. There were no surprises. I highly recommend working as a contractor before committing to a company.
