They always warm you up with an "easy" question or two. In my second interview, the warm up wasn't so easy. They first asked, "If I roll two dice and tell you that at least 1 is a 6, what is the probability that both are 6s?"

You have an apple truck that can hold up to 1000 apples and needs to help you transport 3000 apples from your farm to the market 1000 miles away. Unfortunately, your truck has a hole in it that causes your truck to (irrecoverably) drop 1 apple per mile. (Assume the apples explode if you drop them.) Fortunately, you are allowed to drop off apples in a secure, clean box at any point along the side of the road to pick them up later (but still you can only hold a maximum of 1000 apples at a time). How should you execute your trips such that you can transport the maximum number of apples to market?
