The issue with the IT dept is that the interviewers for the role were more junior and not experienced enough to interview a high level candidate. They expected end to end solutions to help them which is practically free consulting and not a job interview. (We don't do that) Communication issues were a problem and their breadth of their experience was limited in understanding the recommendations.
Basic interrogation on what you did in the past companies. Many questions that they ask are behavior types and like to drill down to a very specific answer. They tend to showcase they work area and praise the work-life balance they have. People stay there in the company for a long time but seem to change their role very often.

The interview was friendly, no particularly tricky questions - yet panel did seek insights from specific examples in career history.
