How familiar are you with Lean principles?
After 50 minutes talking about the "advantages" of the company and an overview of the position, I was asked to tell, in a "very short way", a success case with a product.
Theoretical question about Product Management implementation... "If Aliens discovered earth and were planning to peacefully integrate into human society within six months, how would you go about ensuring they all had places to live?"
The typical "failure question" such as tell me about the last time when you were working on something and it didn't go well?
This was great, after knowing all this information I think you'd be a great candidate and want to move you forward through the process. Does this position still sound appealing to you and would you like to move forward?
"We've read your resume and we know the facts. Now, tell me about you."
They had me do a presentation about how to solve a random problem - they give you a couple of ideas beforehand and I chose something to do with real estate. At the beginning of the presentation they asked me how many people did I talk to when doing discovery.
Why are you thinking about working at Trivago?
None. This interaction was horrendous. Typically, the way top notch companies who focus on hiring amazing talent do the following when conducting phone interviews. 1) They describe the role in detail 2) allows time for the candidate to describe his/hers professional experience to determine if the position matches the candidate(s) interest, skills, and professional background and 3) leaves time for questions. None of these steps were followed. The call (not an interview) lasted twenty minutes, and at the end, I could not ask any questions about the position because it was not explained and I was not clear about the position.
