Either a +1 or a -1 symbol is transmitted with equal probabiility. At the receivers side, some gaussian noise with variance sigma^2 is added. What is the optimal decision boundary? Derive it rigorously for the case when -1 is transmitted with probability 0.75 and +1 with probability 0.25.
It was a really good experience. I had interviewed at Texas A&M campus, and the interviewer was warm, showed me a seismic map and asked me questions about what features would I be looking out for. The questions were built upon my answers.

Previous experience of biomedical signal processing. Rather big home assignment (filter and process ECG and PPG signals).
Would you be okay with working in our office outside of Texas?
3 people each asked questions of their focus area - CS lady asked some trivial C++ OOP questions - Physics person asked what does X Equation say. I don't know stuff by name so I had to have the guy explain in more detail (probably looked like a fool) - Signal Processing guy showed pictures of time domain or frequency domain signals and asked what would happen if you changed to the other domain
A mix of more open ended technical questions (e.g. how would you approach designing or doing X?) and some more targeted questions (e.g. explain what PCA is and how it works?).
