All 3 interview sets were mostly about personality fit and didn't dive too deeply into technical questions. VREAL seemed more interested in finding out if I was a good fit for the team rather than diving into the depths of specific technical areas. Each interview was more of a casual and relaxed conversation rather than a question/answer session with engineers. My previous employer is a very large, Fortune 100 company and all 3 groups asked why I wanted to change to a start-up and if I'd be comfortable in doing so.

what experience do you have with Japanese corporate culture?
I was asked various technical questions regarding how I would approach specific problems that I might encounter on the job. I was also asked to write SQL queries, design a database based off of theoreticals, and review my technical skill set on a job-by-job basis.
Not sure exactly on wording, but interviewer said there were problems with efficiency when you do large scale computing with Java. Either about the speed of computation or quality of results when doing such operations. Did not even know this was something to take into consideration, I do not think the interviewer actually expected me to know the answer. I just answered the other Java questions pretty certainly and gave me a harder question. I think the answer has to do with how the Java VM works in a commercial/industry/large scale setting.
