Salary negotiation during the interview. I was take by surprise that it wasn't done by HR and instead the hiring manager, and I thought it meant she wanted to close the deal so to speak. I was asked "so, what would it take to get you onboard?" Had I said "just the bare minimum" I would have probably got a legit job offer. I think this was a tactic she used to see literally what it would take to get me...and whether they could afford me. After seeing what I would be up against, I was not willing to accept the bare minimum salary - no way. Especially with the hospital having just let go both of their Network Admins and their existing staff having no clue what their Forest Functional Level is or how many DCs they have in production. What?!
