I did not find the interview difficult in any way, in fact, it was more like a Pep Rally- but in retrospect I see now that the owner must recruit from out-of-state and/or young or inexperienced people because no one in the Bay Area wants to work for her.
nothing will be particularly unexpected, and if you have experience in a shop nothing will be really difficult. in the shop i was asked to make a cube out of acrylic glass, and given the choice of using CAD and a Laser cutter or doing it by hand.
I don't remember any specific questions. Looking back though the interview was Lisa gauging how easily she can manipulate and use me.
How comfortable are you with managing multiple projects and tight deadlines? We directly serve all the creative departments through the company at varying stages of development, do you have any experience in product development? What kinds of machines or tools have you used in your professional career? CNC, Laser, RP, etc
There were model-making tasks with supplied LEGO bricks and parts. There were also questions about how you work as part of a team and your hands-on creative skills.
I was informed that I shouldn't believe what I hear about a high turnover of employees meaning a bad environment. I wasn't even aware they had such a high turnover rate at the time. And being asked if I could promise that I would stay for at least a year.
