The technical question was about statics of beam loading (I'm a mechanical engineer), and I had fortunately just had an exam the week before about that. I don't think they expected me to pull out equations (like I said, I just had an exam), but the ability of just looking at a problem and coming up with reasonable expectations of "what is going to happen" and asking the right questions to get more info.
First Level Thinking, Physics mechanics ( resultant forces, a moment of inertia) Pump power and output, gear ratio, gear mechanisms. etc The previous problem you have solved and explain. Hypothetical problem and you need to solve the problem and explain the thought process
Time you didnt meet a deadline? Time you lead a team to a goal? Time you were in a challenging situation? What do you think the challenges of the first few months on the job will be? Why did you choose your degree? What modules do you enjoy/think will be useful?

De laatste van de vier gesprekken van de man van HR die vier rare vragen stelde. De lastigste was "Als ik jou zou vragen wat 'de waarheid' is, wat zou je antwoorden?"
When would you design with a high Factor of Safety?
1. You have two-cylinder made from the same material. They are made to have the same diameter and length. The only difference is that one is solid and the other one is hollow. Which one has higher stiffness when bending? 2. Again you have two-cylinder but now these two-cylinder rods have the same mass and length, which one has higher stiffness? 3. Taking the two-cylinders with the same mass, which one has higher resonance frequency when you impact the end of the rod?
