I attended the automated video interview. It started with introducing myself, then explaining a CGG technology, the physics and mathematics behind it. It was followed by high-school level mathematics and optics questions, like a linear function, mirages, rainbows, etc. Questions about a research project I had done and how it may help CGG. Why interested in this role? Any example of going beyond your duties/ responsibilities to achieve an objective.

Q1: A and B are flipping a coin. A flips first, and then B. What is the probability of A winning first? Q2: What is the volume of a cube inscribed in a sphere with radius 1? Q3: There are 25 horses, each of which runs at a constant speed that is different from the other horses. Since the track only has 5 lanes, each race can have at most 5 horses. If you need to find the 3 fastest horses, what is the minimum number of races needed to identify them?

Two identical sound waves travel via different ray paths to a detector. Destructive interference between the two waves is observed at a frequency of 100 Hz. Given the speed of sound in the medium as 1500 m/s can you determine the difference in path length?
