If you adequately prepare, nothing should be so unexpected that you shouldn't have already thought you'd be asked it. The recruiting staff is very nice to work with; they don't try to stress test you or put a ton of pressure on you. That said, it's clear that they want to hear certain things in your answers, so don't take their lax and friendly personalities for an easy trip.

Why consulting?
The case question was rather odd- it involved a lot of HR specific buzzwords that pretty much required you to be familiar with implementing these systems, such as Talent management systems, succession planning, etc. I have a PhD, not an MBA, so I am unsure why they thought this would be a good case to give.

The behavioral interview went very smoothly. My interviewer wanted to keep it conversational and asked me to elaborate on a few points from my résumé. The case interview was quite tough. The case was over mergers and acquisitions, which I don't know much about.
