Our objective is to arrange these pieces so that they form an n × n square. Each piece may only be rotated to find different possible solutions, as flipping a piece does not constitute a legal move within the confines of this problem. In general, a set of puzzle pieces can lead to anywhere from zero to multiple unique solutions; see Fig. 2 for an example solution when n = 2.
