I applied online. I interviewed at eBay (Austin, TX) in Oct 2021
Interview
Coding test that must be done in the browser, bad if any syntax highlighting and when I went to look up documentation for one of the methods for a native object I was using, an alert was on the screen when I got back saying that my “cheating” was being sent to the test giver. Didn’t even finish it, I would never work for a company that does that for their interview.

Interview

Virtual on-site:
- Coding question: Pair programming with interviewer
- Java: Generic Java interview questions.
Recruiter did not follow up to tell me that I was not selected for the role.

Question 1
- Coding question: Given an array that represent a row of seats in a movie theater, where 0 represents an empty seat and 1 represents a occupied seat, return the index of a empty seat that is the most socially distant from the other patrons.
Started off with an online screening round with some discussions on my past and current roles, some agile processes and best practices, tech I've used.
Then I was sent a take home test which I was given 3 hours to complete but it took around 90 minutes total.
Finally an on-site interview with 4 parts:
- Agile ways of working which was kind of like a behavioral interview.
- Architecture and infrastructure which was mostly a theoretical discussion about how you'd keep a system running smoothly.
- Code review of your take home test from the previous step. This also included some tech trivia.
- Finally a wrap-up session with your would be manager.
I was promised feedback in a couple of days. I knew by the end of the interview that this wasn't a role for me, but what's really funny is that I got ghosted. Who the hell ghosts people after an on site? Rude!
