I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at eBay (San Jose, CA) in Oct 2022
Interview
I described myself in the beginning, then I answered some coding questions. I asked some follow up questions to the interviewer, in which I got answers back. I coding part went well. I took time to get the code working.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at eBay (Brisbane) in Jul 2022
Interview
Simple, straight forward, typical process of screening with a recruiter before speaking with the hiring team. The recruiter knew nothing about UX and product. Their questions were completely inappropriate for a senior level role. She was incredibly rude and instead of asking me to explain my experience, she asked "why I had left all my other companies" and said my "job hopping looked bad". Why interview me then?! I specialise in working with tech startups that move very quickly and get acquired within 2-3 years. My whole purpose is to establish their teams, processes, products and strategies to lead them to successful exit. When I pointed this out to her she became defensive. I decided not to continue further with the interview. I think it's embarrassing for Ebay to have this type of person represent them and I can only imagine how many incapable people work there which would be a nightmare in my opinion. I ended up getting a rejection email around 2 months later. Couldn't help but laugh.
I was scheduled a 1 hour call with an SRE from Ebay. Interview lasted 30 mins, nothing technical was asked, no code was asked, Interviewer was cool but I think he was kinda distracted...
