eBay Data Scientist interview questions

I had an online interview, same-day code screening, and same-day received an email that they have a subset of candidates much better match to the role. It seems to me that they have decided before my interview what they want to do . I thought the position was fully remote based on the job description but it was not. It might be better to set up an HR interview( even short, for 10 minutes) before the technical interview.
