I saw the job on indeed.com, sent my resume to a third party recruiter. Had a brief interview with them. They contacted me and said DiscoverOrg was interested in interviewing but I first had to pass a, intellectual aptitude test online that tested my mathematical and verbal reasoning. I was then contacted for an in person interview with the dev lead, a business analyst and the CTO. No defined questions, mostly just a discussion about what Ive done and how that matches with what they need. This went well and I was asked back for a second interview where I met with the other product manager, the CEO and a marketing manager. This too went well. My references were check and passed and I received an offer later that evening.
Even though I told the CEO what I was making in my current position and I told the recruiter what I my salary requirements were and the recruiter assured me these were communicated, the offer was very, very low. Lower than I made in my last four positions with no bonus program or perks whatsoever! The CEO told me to expect to work long weeks, 55 hours on average so I didn't expect to be low balled at this level in my profession. Additionally the benefits package was the worst I have seen with the lowest end medical and dental.
I decided I could live with it because I really wanted the job, it sounded fun and challenging and I know I could make a real impact fast. I made a reasonable counter offer at the lowest end of my range earning the same salary I had in the job before my current one. The recruiter told me that I would receive a response in a day or two. A week later after being repeatedly put off and delayed, I received a call from the recruiter that the offer had been rescinded because the CEO felt that I didn't meet the qualifications they needed in the position.
By that point I was uneasy about the prospect of working with DiscoverOrg so I wasn't terribly bothered but I did feel that it was a huge was of my time and energy.
