I am disappointed to hear that my application is no longer in progress, despite having all the relevant skills and experience for the role.
The initial chat and first interview went really well. The hiring manager was impressed with my experience, skills, and my answers to her questions. She even mentioned that I was exactly what she was looking for, which is why she decided to move my application forward to the second stage of the interview.
The second interview was a group panel where I had to explain how I would approach three problem statements. It was challenging because none of the problems were related to the role or my experience. The questions were very "outside the box," so I had to think carefully. It felt a bit strange when the hiring manager said there were no wrong answers. Why not use problem statements that relate to my expertise, where I know the right answers?
I also just found out that the role was very coding and technical focused, with little emphasis on campaigns, strategy, or lifecycle, exactly where my expertise lies. So what was the hiring manager looking for? Technical skills or strategy? But what do I know? In the end, the hiring manager decided not to progress my application.
