I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Walt Disney Company
Interview
I applied online on Sunday and was emailed on Tues to come in for an interview the next day. I went in and was notified on Friday that I hadn't got the position. It was a pretty quick process for me!
When I first got there, I was told to wait because there was another girl coming to interview too. Once she arrived the Manager took us out of the store to sit on a couch/bench in the mall. She introduced herself and then asked us why we wanted to work for the company. After that she explained a little about the store and then asked us a bunch of Disney trivia - THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT GUYS- I wasn't well prepared for the trivia and I think that's one of the reasons I didn't get hired. They were just general knowledge questions but some of them were really hard! (i.e. Name all of the Star Wars movies in the order they were released, what cameo role did the director of Finding Nemo play in the movie etc.) I don't think you need to know all of the answers, but they want to know that you have a pretty good working knowledge of Disney.
After that we were asked some role playing questions - "If a little girl in a Cinderella dress came in with her mom what would you say to them?" "If a little boy with a Spider-Man action figure came in how would you interact with him?" The key thing she told us after we answered was that they always try to use "Disney language" so they always address little girls as "princess" and say things like "Oh, I see you're all dressed up for the ball. Are you looking for your prince?" etc.
Next we were given a cast member script for a special store event (I had a script for leading a "Learn to Draw Baymax Class") and we had to read the script as if we were talking to the kids in a store. I think the key for this is to be over the top "Disney" if you know what I mean. Talk with that excited Prince/Princess voice, and SMILE!
After that we were asked about our work history and how we have dealt with difficult customers/situations in the past.
Then she answered any questions we had and we were done! It was pretty nice as far as interviews go!
