First you fill out an instore computer application, then you wait for a phone call. It is important to follow up religiously, otherwise you may not receive a call back. Then they schedule an in-store interview and you take an in-store computer test. Afterwards, management evaluates the results, looks at your resume, and schedules occupational physical (if you have been offered a job). Then you must attend orientation training. Expect for your first several weeks of employment to be on the computer at least an hour per day doing computer based learning modules.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Walmart (Jacksonville, NC) in Aug 2012
Interview
First off don't expect to be working the next week after your interview. It takes time. After the first interview expect to wait a week or two until the second one. Hopefully for that one you'll also get a job offer and be asked to take a background check and complete a drug test. After that keep on it call and ask like crazy until they give you an orientation day. Information tends to get lost in the system.
