I applied in-person. I interviewed at Walmart (Moncton, NB) in Mar 2010
Interview
They pretty much hire anyone, all walks of life, they go through a lot of staff where it is retail and no longer hire full time employees so part time is usually always available. They push respect for the individual and safety first and seem to forget both these once you are hired

Question 1
You need to work overnight for 3 or 4 nights and its really your problem with what you do with your kids during that time.
The process was very easy. Asked basic questions. I’m not sure if they pay much attention to your scheduling needs, however. Just answer honestly, and you will be fine. If you do have any scheduling issues, be sure to tell them so they can adjust your schedule if it suits their needs.
