I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Victoria's Secret (Orange, CA) in May 2011
Interview
I called the store I wanted to work at and asked if they were hiring. They said they were for the Semi-Annual sale. She told me to print the application out online, fill it out at home, and bring it in. I brought it in that night, on a Monday, and handed it to a sales associate in the front, because the hiring manager was in the back. I called them 3 days after just to check up and they said they have my application and will call me for a group interview if they liked my application.
A week and a day after I handed in my application, on the next Tuesday, I got a call and they scheduled me for a group interview for the next day. The group interview was me and 3 other girls, one who got there late. The questions were easy and typical, and the girl doing my interview was really nice.
Hint to those going on a VS interview:
1. DRESS NICE IN ALL BLACK!! everyone else besides me in my interview came in jeans! it looks unprofessional. If you cant do all black, at least do nice black pants and a dressy-ish shirt.
2. Try to be first to answer the questions in a group interview. They like people who take initiative.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
What are three words your last manager or boss would use to describe you?
Hiring managers prioritize your personality, availability, and customer service mindset, looking for candidates who are friendly, adaptable, reliable, and comfortable engaging with customers, rather than focusing heavily on prior experience or technical skills.
Very easy, first a phone call then meeting in person. Took a while to be seen in person even after the scheduled meeting time, they had me just kind of stand in a corner for a while waiting for someone to become available.
