I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Victoria's Secret (Yonkers, NY) in Oct 2014
Interview
Print out an application and bring it in to the store, then a manager will set up an interview with you. I'd never worked retail before but they really needed people, although they seem open to hiring inexperienced people in general since they've got a lot of specific techniques. Pretty quick, but also weird since I had to be interviewed on the sales floor. And I've seen them make people wait like half an hour. They called my references too. But I think I used a college classmate/roommate as one.
Hiring managers prioritize your personality, availability, and customer service mindset, looking for candidates who are friendly, adaptable, reliable, and comfortable engaging with customers, rather than focusing heavily on prior experience or technical skills.
Very easy, first a phone call then meeting in person. Took a while to be seen in person even after the scheduled meeting time, they had me just kind of stand in a corner for a while waiting for someone to become available.
