I applied online. I interviewed at Unity in Nov 2020
Interview
I applied online and was then asked to participate in a phone screen.
The call, itself, just included the recruiter reading off a script and asking generic questions. It felt cold, but I've had phone screens before and was prepared.
Then two days later I received a boiler plated 'rejection' e-mail.
The issue I have, though, is the rejection e-mail still contained the INSERT NAME HERE that the recruiter forgot to delete and was suppose to apply her own name. It was literally a copy and paste from whatever their HR manual was and she didn't even bother to read it herself, let alone fill in what she was suppose to.
It was just so unprofessional and sloppy. Her lack of attention to detail underscores my belief that my experience and talking points were just ignored.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Unity (Austin, TX) in Oct 2020
Interview
A thorough interview process interfacing with both the team and the developers they support. Initial phone screening by HR reviewing my experience and typical HR type questions. This was followed a few days later by a video conference with the hiring manager, which covered my experience in slightly more detail, as well as behavioral questions. After this, there was a homework assignment to test knowledge and planning abilities. Following the assignment was a series of interviews with DevOps and Developers reviewing the project and making sure I had alternatives to my approach.

Question 1
Typical DevOps and infrastructure as code related questions
went to hiring event, applied at unity, got contacted and arranged the group interview, then had one on one technical interview. In total it was a 2 step hiring process. The interview was not conducted in person because of local COVID 19 limitations.
