I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Unity (Bellevue, WA) in Jul 2022
Interview
The interview process was pretty standard. I had a 30 minute video screen with the recruiter which was followed shortly by a 45 minute video interview with the hiring manager. There were some technical and behavioral questions and I got a good idea of what the expectations for the role were. After that I had a take home assessment which was overall not too bad. Following that I had the virtual on site interview loop. That was a 30 minute interview with a senior product manager and a senior manager in engineering (both at the same time), and 2 separate 45 minute interviews with data scientists. The recruiter was fantastic and was always willing to answer my questions. I was provided feedback from my interviews which helped me better understand how transparent the organization is.

Question 1
Technical questions about projects I've worked on and model architecture, as well as some questions based around building a hypothetical model to walk through my thought process.
I had a screening call with a very nice technical recruiter. The recruiter first explained the position in detail and then invited me to describe my background and relevant experience. It was a zoom call that lasted 30 min.

Why do you want to change careers and work in industry now, as opposed to continuing in academia?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Unity in Apr 2022
Interview
There was a phone screen with the recruiter, a short video call with the hiring manager, a very involved technical task, and then three more hour-long video interviews. Recruiters were very responsive and overall it was a positive experience.
