I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at US Postal Service in Apr 2013
Interview
The hiring process went a lot faster than expected. I applied online and had to take a civil service exam before I would be considered for the position. I passed the test with flying colors and a couple weeks later I was called to set up an in person interview. After the fairly informal interview process during which the manager was already speaking as if I already had the position I was told it would be around 3 weeks before I would hear back from their central office as to whether I was selected. Apparently the manager you interview with only makes a hiring recommendation and then the central office makes the final decision. It was only about a week and a half and I received a call that they were offering me the position.

I applied through other source. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at US Postal Service (Charleston, SC) in Apr 2011
Interview
From the time I began applying for the job till I got hired it was over 3 months everything in the post office moves very slowly. I knew a person who worked there and he called me about the open position. I put in my resume and I waited. Then I was required to take a test, it was an extremely simple test to check general knowledge. But you had to wait to take the test until you were scheduled. It took weeks for the results, if you are military you get extra credit on all tests and benefits.
